EXTRACTIONS – ADULTS

The doctor may determine that you need tooth extraction(s) for any number of reasons. Some teeth are extracted because they are severely decayed and not restorable; others may have advanced periodontal disease, or have fractured in a way that cannot be repaired. Other teeth may need removal because they are poorly positioned in the mouth (such as impacted wisdom teeth), or in preparation for orthodontic treatment.

The removal of a single tooth can lead to problems related to your chewing ability, problems with your jaw joint, and shifting teeth. To avoid these complications, you should consider the replacement of the extracted tooth.

Almost all of your teeth play an important role in speaking, chewing, and maintaining the proper alignment of other teeth. Tooth loss doesn’t necessarily have to occur as you age, but if you do lose teeth, most of them must be replaced to maintain the proper function of your mouth. Fortunately, there are options for correcting tooth loss.

Options for Tooth Replacement:

  • Implants
  • Bridges
  • Partial
  • Dentures
